Fiber Laser Defense System

The “Silent Hunter” laser defense system, showcased at the China Defense Exhibition Zone’s Poly Technologies booth, has become a major highlight of this year’s defense exhibition. This laser defense system is the export variant of the domestically developed “Low-Altitude Guardian” laser system, which is internationally recognized as the first system to propose the use of lasers for countering “low, slow, and small” (LSS) targets, such as drones and model aircraft. Its core laser source typically employs fiber or solid-state lasers, known for their high efficiency and stability.

Key Parameters:

  1. Laser Wavelength: The system operates in the near-infrared spectrum, fiber laser with 1064 nanometers. This wavelength experiences minimal atmospheric transmission loss, making it suitable for long-range engagements.
  2. Output Power: The power output ranges in the tens of kilowatts, with specific values depending on the model and mission requirements. High power ensures rapid target neutralization.
  3. Effective Range: Depending on target characteristics and atmospheric conditions, the system can engage targets at distances of several kilometers.

System Features:

  • Precision Engagement: The laser beam can precisely target and destroy threats with minimal collateral damage.
  • Rapid Response: The system can detect and neutralize targets within seconds, making it ideal for countering sudden threats.
  • Sustained Operation: As long as power is supplied, the system can operate continuously without frequent ammunition reloading.

Summary: The “Silent Hunter” laser defense system utilizes high-power lasers with a wavelength of approximately 1064 nanometers and power output in the tens of kilowatts. It offers precision, rapid response, and sustained operational capabilities, making it an effective solution for countering LSS targets.
